The goal of this course is twofold. It is first designed to help students improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English. It also aims at introducing them to the critical analysis of texts and visual documents by writers and artists from the English-Speaking world. The focus in the L4LI99AN module is Great-Britain in the long 19th-century. The Thursday seminars, more specifically, will be devoted to the Romantic Age.
Class time will concentrate on literary analysis, but short translation exercises (French -> English and English -> French) may also be added from time to time.
